PATO NEGRO CERAMICS - COFFEE MUG (10 oz)
Patricia Luévano is the creative force behind Pato Negro. She is a Product Designer with a Master's in Innovation. Her 2010 research project at the Kyoto Institute of Technology sparked a deep love for ceramics and once back home in Chihuahua, Northern Mexico, she set up her studio Pato Negro.
What does Pato Negro Mean I asked "it's inspired in a fairy tale of the ugly ducking...it is some how an analogy of what happens when we compare industrial produced objects to handmade crafts... we tend to think industrial is better because they are symmetric and perfect... but when we learn what's behind the process of a hand made product, we change our perceptions... and then... the ugly duckling becomes a beautiful swan".
Patricia's WORK is born from within the soul and it takes shape through an honest aesthetic that creates unrepeatable pieces with a unique personality. The materials I use are practically all of Mexican origin, promoting the healthy development of fair trade and pushing me to experiment and create new options.
BALANCE between strictness and harmony in Japanese aesthetic appreciation, is her biggest inspiration. From Mexico, she has learned her craft's founding techniques, which are nourished from a Mexican flavor and an international vision.
2021, she celebrated a special anniversary. Five years that she started this beautiful project called Pato Negro and ten years that she returned from Japan, where she learned to work with this amazing material.
Continuing off the inspiration of the fundamental concepts of Japan's aesthetic we have collaborated to a matte black collection - focusing on the essentials at home - plates cups and bowls.... that's all you need :)
FILL YOUR TABLE AND YOUR HOUSE with handcrafted products that seek to find beauty in nature's imperfections and accept the sublime effect of aging.
